Honduras Health Mission, 2009

Peter Crow participated in the 2009 mission trip. He traveled to both Los Terreros and Madrigales taking many photographs, interviewing Honduran and American participants, and shooting hours of video. The result was this moving and informative documentary, Honduras Health Mission, 2009. 14 minutes. Requires Quicktime to view.

Cultural Competence and Cultural Awareness

The organization, Unite for Sight, has prepared an online course for people interested in working abroad in a clinical setting. The Cultural Competency Online Course (http://www.uniteforsight.org/cultural-competency/) is free of charge and is completely self directed.

Spanish Classes

Kristin Canady, a mission interpreter from the 2009 trip, will teach our beginner and intermediate classes this Fall. Classes begin September 21 and end on December 7th. The cost will continue to be $100 per person, payable to Kristin. All classes are held at St. Stephens in the Davis Room. Intermediate class starts at 6 pm and ends at 7:15. The Beginner class starts at 7:15 and ends at 8:30. Both classes will use Easy Spanish Step-by-Step, published by McGraw Hill. Copies are available from Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, and Borders. All are welcome to participate even if you can't go to Honduras.
