Our Clergy and Staff
 Stephanie Allen was born and raised
in a small town outside of Asheville, North Carolina. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Theater
at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, she left the clean Appalachian air to explore the wilderness of New York City. After a brief survival
job in an executive recruitment firm, she found herself working on the lay staff for a large Episcopal church, rather than in the theater, and quickly
found that church and theater have a great deal in common. Sponsored for ordination by the Diocese of New York, Stephanie completed her
Masters of Divinity at the General Theological Seminary in NYC in May of 2008. She became the Assistant Rector at the Church of the Good Shepherd
in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in June, 2008 and became Rector of Nativity in April, 2011. Stephanie likes to knit for fun, and she really, really likes to run, completing her first half-marathon last fall and starting to think she might like to try a full marathon sometime soon. She is married to Michael, a theatrical set designer who works in theater, film, television, and commercial display, and they have two children, Sarah, age 8, and Brandt, age 6, both of whom developed a southern accent about 5 minutes after moving to North Carolina.
Waltye holds a BA and MM in Voice and Conducting, respectively, from Westminster Choir College. She has performed in musical theater, appearing on Broadway, and is a frequent soloist in both spiritual and secular venues.
